Tazeen Fatma is an Indian lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh. She is a member of the Samajwadi Party and Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Rampur assembly constituency of the Rampur district. She is professor-cum-vice-chancellor of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.
Early Life and Education
Fatma took birth in 1949 to Mohammad Abdul Qaiyoom and Asghari Khatoon in Bilgram. Bilgram is a village in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, India.
On growing up, she pursued her M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University.
Thereafter, she began to work as an associate professor in Political science in the department of education.
Personal Life
In 1981, Tazeen got married to Azam Khan. They have two sons, named Abdullah and Abeed.
Political Career
In the year 2014, Tazeen Fatma was offered a proposal to the Rajya Sabha by the Samajwadi Party. However, she declined to mention that her husband had not been allowed due consideration by the party.
After some time, she accepted the offer and turned into a member of the Rajya Sabha.
In 2015, she was appointed to a committee on social justice and empowerment.
Controversies And Allegations
Land Encroachment
Tazeen Fatma and her son Abdullah Azam Khan received a notice for trespassing the farmers’ land to establish Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in 2019. She has booked under sections 447 & 184 of the Indian Penal Code for encroaching government land to develop Humsafar resort.

Electricity Extortion
During the raids, executives identified that Azam Khan and Tazeen had equipped machinery which was apt to wrongly consume electricity beyond the installed capacity of their energy meter. Then, executives set up an initial information report against Tazeen for looting electricity in 2019.
Fake Birth Certificate
In 2019, Fatma and her husband were alleged of getting hold of multiple birth certificates made in Rampur and Lucknow for their son Abdullah to obtain two passports. A BJP minister registered a complaint.
In 2020, Tazeen Fatma with her spouse and her son were sent to jail.
