In Avinash Yelandur’s family, his father B.K. Narayana Rao was a lawyer and his mother’s name was Indira. Avinash Yelandur wife name is Malavika who was his co-star in the serial Mayamruga and they were married in 2001. They have a son named Gaalav.

After completing his schooling at Mysore’s Hardwicke High School, he went to the University of Mysore from where he obtained a Master’s degree in English literature.

From a young age, he was drawn to theatre and cinema at Mysore and later at Bangalore. During this time, he taught English at the National Institute of Engineering in Mysore and later at MES College in Bangalore.
